Step by Step
Consultation
The first step is a meeting with the designer to discuss your vision, budget, and specific needs for the space. The designer will take measurements and assess the site, ensuring they understand your goals and preferences.
Concept Development
Based on the initial consultation, the designer will develop design concepts, including mood boards, sketches, and layout plans. This step will showcase the overall aesthetic direction and design elements that will be incorporated into the space.
Design Refinement
Once the concept is approved, the designer will refine the design, selecting specific materials, colors, finishes, and furniture. They’ll also provide you with 3D renderings if needed or detailed plans so you can visualize the final result.
Implementation
The designer will oversee the procurement of furniture, materials, and décor, and supervise any contractors or tradespeople involved in the project (e.g., electricians, painters). They ensure the design is executed to plan and that timelines are met.
* Lauren & Jaimie Design Co is open to working with your contractor but we often do a bidding process to find the best contractor for the job. We also have trades that we know and trust.
Styling &
Final
Touches
Once the larger elements are in place, the designer will add the finishing touches, such as artwork, lighting, and accessories. This is when the space really comes to life. If this step is skipped, the design can't reach the full potential and beauty it could be.
Benefits of Working with Designers
-
Project Management
-
Interior designers often act as project managers, overseeing all aspects of a renovation or design project. From coordinating contractors to managing timelines and budgets, they ensure everything runs smoothly, minimizing the risk of delays or miscommunication.
-
-
Time saving
-
Designing a space takes time— from researching furniture options to coordinating contractors. An interior designer can handle all the details for you, saving you the time and stress of managing the project yourself.
-
-
Access to resources and vendors
-
Interior designers have established relationships with suppliers and vendors, which often means access to high-quality, exclusive materials, furniture, and decor that may not be readily available to the general public. They can also secure better pricing due to their industry connections.
-
-
Expertise and knowledge
-
Interior designers are trained professionals with knowledge of design principles, space planning, and color theory. They know how to create harmonious designs that reflect your personal style while maximizing functionality and efficiency.
-
-
Budget Management
-
While it may seem counterintuitive, hiring a designer can actually help you stay within your budget. An interior designer knows how to source products and manage costs effectively, often helping you avoid costly mistakes and ensuring that every dollar is spent wisely.
-
-
Tailored/Curated Design just for you
-
Designers take into account your specific needs, preferences, and lifestyle. Whether you're creating a cozy home office, a luxurious living room, or an efficient kitchen, they'll tailor their approach to suit your unique requirements.
-
-
Peace of mind
-
We have done this many many times and can help guide you through it all.
-
-
Stress lifted
-
All the stress involved can be overwhelming for any size of home project. Most people burn out, especially going from a hole in the ground to a beautifully finished heritage home. We know how stressful decision fatigue can be. This is your home and your money and we know you want to get it right. Hiring designers takes all of the pressure off your shoulders.
-
-
Elevated style
-
Our jobs mostly come from word of mouth. People see our finished spaces and want the same style and look in their home. Designers manage the little details that make the space look "magazine worthy". Most architects and contractors and trades are great at building the big design plan but don't make the design plan.
-
For example: whether the wood stain on the custom beams compliments the flooring, moving the light switches so you don't have a wall full of switches and you can't put any art or furniture in front of it, taking an inventory of your things so they all have a place, finding the perfect Schluter and grout for your expensive tile, does the drain match the fixture in your new kitchen, making sure the living room is the right shape and color and size to fit that perfect furniture you had in mind, lighting, scale, color, and proportion etc.
